Basketball Fans

Last night my daughter had a basketball game, and as I was sitting in the stands watching the game I could not help but hear other fans. As I sat there I realized there are all different kinds of parents fans. I have broken them down into different categories.

First, you have fans that just sit there and do nothing they don’t clap or yell.

Second, you have fans that just talk or as I hear it gossip about everyone. I guess these fans don’t get out much.

Third, you have fans that will clap, cheer, and make some noise, which is fine they are supporting their team.

Fourth, you have fans that will yell, clap, stand up, scream, and make way to much noise. This is the category I fall under. I will stand up especially when my daughter has the ball which I will have to say is a lot. She is the point guard and I am constantly telling her to shoot. It doesn’t matter if she is at half court (which I know she can’t make the shot from that far away) I am always yelling “SHOOT.” I also scream “go baby go.” I wonder if fans from the other team think my daughter’s name is baby.

Fifth, you have fans that yell, scream, clap, stand up, and tell the referee how to call the game. Last night I wanted to tell this one father fan to be quiet. You know that type of fan I am talking about. The obnoxious dad! A game would not be complete without this fan. Come on people they are 11 and 12.

I can think of a fan/parent just like that - of course it wouldn't be me - but there is always one or two in a crowd!!

Love that picture of Emily ~

Hi Lori, it's always nice to meet a new blogger buddy! You're going to love it here I promise. I adore your sister, though I'm mad at her right now because she won't give up your RMS/Micasa name, now I'm going to have to investigate haha. My daughter was a band nerd, not an athlete (although after watching them march I'm not so sure about that!) but the same categories apply to band parents too. I was always a number 4, never a number 5, I promise I would never second guess those wonderful judges tee hee! Welcome again, and visit anytime. I always have coffee on! Kathy PS your daughter is a cutie pie

The folks at my school like to use some colourful adjectives when they’re watching their kids play for the school team.

Some of the words I've never heard of before, yikes!

Welcome to the addictive world of blogging. :)

I wish you could meet my husband. You're in the same category...unless he creeps into the 5th one, although he usually stays off the refs. In fact, you might have heard him screaming the other night during the Duke game!
