Metamorphosis Monday

I am participating in my first Metamorphosis Monday hosted by Susan at Between Naps on the Porch if you have been over to visit please stop by. You can also see the list of all the participants.

I will be taking you on a tour of our kitchen. Some of you might have seen this on RMS. Our house was built in 1926 my husband and I gutted this room to the studs.

Look at the lovely wallpaper on the ceiling. We had to get rid of it.

This was our floor. It had two layers of vinyl flooring and under that was plywood, so we had to remove all the flooring and plywood to get to the original floors. This was not an easy task, but we were determined, and we did it.

Here is the kitchen all gutted and flooring up.

We have three doors in our kitchen we had to work around. The sink was actually underneath the left window but we moved the plumbing under the glass cabinet.

DH built the wine rack, cabinets, and the Mahogany Island.

My mom made the curtains!

Nothing was in this corner, so we built cabinets. You can never have too many cabinets.

The two doors leading to the dining room and foyer. Yes, that is wallpaper on my walls. I know some people don't like wallpaper, but it works for us and it is a nice transition to our other rooms.

This is great! I love home renovations! It's one of my things. At night I renovate my home in my head over and over until I fall asleep. Crazy? Maybe. But it works better than counting sheep.

Lori! That is a beautiful kitchen! I could cook there all day! Great job.
I grew up in a house that was built in the late 1800's, so I have a special love for old houses. Wouldn't you know, Roy and I live in a 1970's ranch...boring as all getout!
Have a terrific Monday~

You guys did a great job on that!! Looks awesome. I love how you have the lights under the upper cabinets. I hate not being able to see what is on the counters when the light is behind you and casting a shadow on what you are doing. Thanks for sharing.

You did a spectacular job on renovating your kitchen. It is fresh and modern, but in keeping with the age of your 20s house.

I love old houses -- and I have a 4-year old kitchen (put in by the previous owner) that looks like something from the 1980s, and it's in a 176 year old house. It's not pretty!

I hope that when we eventually get to redoing our kitchen ... it turns out as lovely as yours!

Hello Lori,

You've done a wonderful job on this kitchen remodel! I can totally relate to the work involved - just recently my husband and I completely gutted (to the studs like you) and remodelled the kitchen in our 1939 bungalow. It's a lot of work, but soooo worth it in the end don't you think?!

Thank you so much for dropping by DesignTies the other day and leaving me such a terrific comment about the family bathroom remodel we did in our previous home!!!

Cheers,
