Hi guys, sorry I'm late but we have basketball! We had a tournment game tonight and the girl's won! Yea! We have another one tomorrow night! I'll be glad when basketball is over this season!

I don't know about y'all but I'm getting really tired of the cold weather. When will spring get here??? Not soon enough for me!

Valentine Candle!

I made a little something for Valentines and would love to share! Actually, I made it last year, but I thought I would share it again!

I bought a candle, Diamond Dust, and Tacky Glue.

I put the Tacky Glue on first. I used my finger to apply the glue. I couldn't find anything else. I made sure it was put on evenly. I then put the Diamond Dust on a paper plate and rolled the dust on the candle.

The Diamond Dust is on the candle. Wait for the glue to dry and you have a sparkly candle...

I put it in this glass jar and put hearts in it, and bam it made a nice center piece for my table..

It's easy peasy and looks good. Who doesn't like a little sparkle in their life?? I sure do love sparkly stuff.

Mosaic Birdbath

I was looking at my birth bath the other day and thought it was a little blah. I decided to spruce it up a bit, so what better way than making a colorful mosaic.

I went to Lowe's and bought some tile, and came home and broke them! It was a lot of fun breaking the tiles! I then put each broken tile on the bird bath before I glued them down. I wanted to make sure everything fit and I had enough tile. Once all the tiles were in there place, I used liquid nails to glue them down.

It took about 3-4 hours for the liquid nails to dry! The next day I put my grout on. After the grout dried, I put grout sealer on it as well.

Here it is all finished with water in it waiting for the birds to enjoy!

I think it turned out really well, and it was super easy! The next time you look at your bird bath and think it looks boring go grab some tiles and spruce it up!

Get Your Craft on Thursday, and my bathroom is FINALLY Finished!

This week I'm going to feature MY BATHROOM! It's taken almost one year to complete, but it's finally finished. It was worth the pain and mess!

I'm going to show you some of the before photos! Warning: the bathroom was small and very ugly!

My husband and I couldn't get dressed at the same time. Let's say that was a total pain!

Look at the lovely floor! I hated this floor, but it was there when we moved in! Another view of our bathroom!

We made the bathroom bigger.

This is what my bedroom looked like for a while! What a complete mess.

Putting up the dry wall and tile.

We took out our bathtub, and made the space a big shower with two shower heads!

New light fixtures!

The wall color is Bamboo Reed. I had a hard time trying to figure out what pictures needed to go here, and when I saw these at Michael's I knew my search was over! They match my walls perfectly!

I made the topiary for a total of $3.00! I got everything from the $$ store!

I hope you enjoyed the tour of our bathroom! It was a lot of hard work, but worth all the effort! I love my new bathroom, and now my husband and I can get dressed together without bumping into each other!

I didn't think we would ever finish our bathroom, but we have finally finished!

It was worth the pain and mess!

Surf's Up!

Thanks everyone for sticking with me during the summer break! I didn't do a lot of crafts over the summer we were to busy playing and working!

This summer we bought a surf board and have been trying to learn how to surf! Boy, it's been fun! I did realize that I'm not as young as I use to be!

My daughter is visiting my dad and step mom in Baton Rouge, Louisiana for the week! She flew down yesterday by herself! What a big step! I was a nervous wreck until I got the call saying she had arrived safely. She's growing up into a wonderful person! I'm going to show you a few pictures of what she has done already!

Thank you all so much for your advise on my bathroom pictures! I still haven't decided what I'm going to do, but you will be the first to know. I'm leaning towards the hibiscus!

I would like to share with you what my daughter and I saw the other day on our way home from the dentist!

We saw a black bear! The bear crossed 4 lanes of traffic, and stopped in front of my car and looked at us! It was really cool! You also should know we do not live in the mountains, and we don't see bears everyday. Emily took the picture with her phone!

I need a little help! As some of you know, I'm now decorating my bathroom and I need your help deciding which pictures look better.

Should I keep the pictures like they are or should I make them the same? My husband likes them as is, but I think they should be the same. What do you think?

I am no cake boss!

Emily turned 13 on May 19th, so I decided to make her a cake using Fondant. O.K. I've never used fondant before, and I saw the cutest cake by Neisa Marie at DIY Celebrations! I thought I would attempt to make a cake similar to hers. Let me just tell you I'm no cake boss..... I don't even cook at my house, so when I announced that I would be attempting to make a cake with fondant my family just laughed... Now let's take a look at what I did shall we?

I bought the fondant and butter cream icing mix at Wal-Mart. Michael's is an hour away, so it had to be Wal-Mart. Emily's party was the next day. There's nothing like waiting to the last minute...

First mistake, I covered my island with powered sugar, and should have used pam. Lesson learned....

I tried to wipe off all the sugar from the orange fondant, but it was hard to get it all off.

Emily and I should have rolled the fondant a little bit thinner!

Emily being silly, but hey it's her cake!

We put the fondant on the cake, which was super easy!

Emily still not sure about the white on the fondant, and she fired me!!!!

We then added the dots! Another mistake was putting too much butter cream icing on the dots!

I was going to put a cute brown ribbon on top of the cake, but Emily wanted to write Happy Birthday, and like I said it was her birthday!

Emily couldn't fit Happy Birthday on the cake, so she wrote Happy B-Day! I fired her after that!!!!

I did manage to a ribbon around the bottom to cover up the mess.

It turned out O.K. considering this was mine and Emily's first try with fondant. We did learn some valuable lessons during this process. We both decided that we are not the cake boss, and we have been totally fired. We did have great time laughing and making fun of our cake!!!!

Hey y'all I found a great new blog and I just have to tell you about it!!!

It's a beach Towel tutorial from Southern Princess over at This is Me!

Now let's see what she made! I thought it would be a great way to start out the long weekend. A lot of people will be heading to the beach and the pools, so here's a great idea for you to try!

Take it way This is me!

I am so excited about our girls only beach trip this weekend! 4 girls I have known since we were young (I have known one since we were 3 years old!) all celebrating our 29th (HAHA) Birthday with a girls beach trip to Destin, Florida. We are all moms of small children so we need this get away! I saw cute beach chair covers online and in a local gift shop but there was no way I was going to pay $30 or more for something I knew I could make myself. I searched everywhere for a tutorial and could not find one anywhere! Since I had those cute $1.25 towels on hand, I decided to make my own and take pictures along the way to make a tutorial for anyone else wanting to make one for the beach or for lounging by the pool. This is my first time posting a tutorial so I hope I make the directions clear and easy to follow
First off you should know I am a messy sewer. My grandmother is a professional seamstress and would shudder if she saw my sloppy seams etc. But since this was for my own use and just something I threw together in less than 30 minutes, I did not go to any great lengths to make it perfect.
First I started with one of the cute Target Dollar spot beach towels. The covers I had seen online used longer towels but I had these, they were cute and CHEAP so they were perfect for my needs. I had some cheap light pink terry cloth material on hand (I seem to have a hobby of collecting fabric!) but you could also use a 2nd towel for the back and pockets. If you were clever enough you could cut around and use all the seams the towel already has to prevent hemming or using the serger on the ends. A serger would have came in very handy for this product but I don't have one and did not want to drive 40 minutes to my grandmothers to use hers. I used a simple tight zig zag stitch on the raw edges of my pockets and back. You could fold it and hem it to make it look more professional.
I had not used my embroidery machine in almost a year so I needed to test it out, the back of the chair cover was the perfect way to do so. I embroidered an L on it just to make sure my machine was working. I cute the light pink terry cloth wider than my towel because A) it was a wider material and B) I wanted the cover to fit any beach chair and this was the easiest way to make sure it would work on wider chairs. Sew the back section onto the top part of the towel to make the part what will slide over the chair to keep the wind from blowing your towel away or slipping once you sit down.

Next I laid out all my "beach" items. A book, sunscreen, sunglasses, camera, cellphone etc. and cut the pocket sizes to make sure all my items would fit in the pockets. On the back part I made it longer so it could be folded down to "close" the pocket.

gotta love the Dollar Tree for Cheap Beach reads! Of course I will end up with more than this in the pockets but I used these items as a guideline when deciding on the sizes.

Sew the pockets up and then sew them onto the towel with a single straight stitch. TA DA... Your beach towel chair cover is ready for some fun the sun! These pictures aren't the greatest but they are the only ones I took before the rain moved in.

The pocket in the picture above should probably have been sewed closer to the bottom, but I am lazy and didn't want to rip the seam out to resew it. Next time for pocket placement, I would fold the towel in half and use that as a guide to sew on the pockets toward the foot area of the towel like the other side pictured at the top.

You can personalize them with coordinating colors, embroidered names/initials ( I did my initials on the top of the cover). Use a design stitch on the pockets, add velcro or buttons to keep your items secure in the pocket, sew in a built in cellphone pocket and so much more! You can make the back flap shorter, I was using a piece already cut and didn't know what to expect so I figured it was better to use too much than not enough. I have a few sections gathered at the seam to create a wider area to fit large wider chairs.

I am going to use another towel to make a large beach tote so my chair cover, beach towel and all other beach items will fit inside. I hope you enjoyed this simple tutorial and are ready to make your own chair cover. Send me pictures! I would love to see your creations. If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

~Pretty As a Picture~

My sun room has been finished for years, and I haven't decorated it yet... I'm not sure what I want or how I want it to look. Emily's getting older and I thought it would be a nice place for her and her friends to "hang out."

Here is a view of my sun room! See I have nothing yet, but working on it.

I decided to make some art for one wall. I wanted to see if the colors would work before I went wild in here. Here's what I came up with.

I bought 9 frames from the $ store, and scrap book paper from Michael's.

I liked the white frames, so I didn't spray paint them. I can't believe I didn't use any spray paint for this project. If you know me I just can't be happy with what I have. I have to change things up a bit so, of course I decided to change some of the ribbon. The ribbon on the frames were white, and I liked it, but I thought it was way too much white.

I took off the white ribbon on some of the frames and replaced it with brown.

Now doesn't that look better? I think so!!!

The ribbon of course was not the same size for any frames! Well, what did I except for $1.00? I had to fix all the ribbon, so my frames would be even.

I used two different prints!

Well what do you think?

It's a start after years of nothing in this room!

It's not quit the teenage "hang out" yet, but at least I'm getting started. There's still a lot to do!

~The Best Treehouse Ever~

I have posted about my daughter's treehouse before, but never the inside! So let's take a look at the best treehouse ever! The treehouse was featured in a local magazine! WOW!

My husband and I built this huge treehouse (Well, he did ~~most~~ all of the work). It cost about the same as one of those big jungle gyms you see. Our yard is small, so the jungle gym would have taken up to much space. We decided to build up and take up less room in our yard.

This is the back view! My daughter loves to swing!

We decided the inside needed to be painted, so I enlisted the help of my sister Lynette over at Lynette's L.A.M. Blog!

Emily drew the girl!

All of us had a really good time painting the inside of the treehouse! We went crazy with the paint and paint colors.

We decided to put our hand prints on one section!

Lynette painted this section! Isn't she a good artist?

Sorry, I don't have any before and during pictures! I know I took them, but can seem to find them.

Emily and her friends love this treehouse! Steve's friends will ask him if they can come over and play!!!

Little round table re-do!

Well I finally did something!! Can you believe it??? I'm pretty proud of myself... It's nothing really big, but I think my little round table turned out nice.

I think I got this table at the Bombay Company many many years ago! It worked for a while, but the color was a bit to dark for my sunroom.

So you know what I did right?? Yep, I used some spray paint! I first primed it, and then painted.

Note to self paint will stick to the newspaper when it dries...

I used an off white satin paint.

Here's my little round table all finished, and in it's new home.

I haven't figured out what I want to put on my table, but I'll figure something out. I think I'm going to go shopping around my house, and I'll show you what I finally come up with.

I had a wonderful Birthday! Thank you all for the wonderful birthday wishes.

Look what I got....

I got a giant Gerber daisy! I love it!

I also got a flip flop wind chime, and a toilet paper holder for our never ending bathroom remodel!

This Gerber daisy is called watermelon.

We all worked in the yard yesterday! Steve trimmed the bushes, Emily pulled weeds, and I cut the grass. It was wonderful, and that is what I wanted to do for my birthday! I didn't need to get all dressed up and go out to dinner. I just wanted to work in the yard.

Emily also studied for her Social Studies test. By the way, she called a few minutes ago and told me she made a B. Thank goodness!!!

I went a little crazy taking picturesof my flowers... Did I tell ya? I love them...

After working in the yard, we had dinner!

Yep, I went online and order us pizza. Steve was going to make me chicken fettuicne, but it was late when we got done in the yard, and who wanted to make dinner? I know I didn't and neither did Steve...

I had a wonderful birthday!

But first, I have to tell ya! It's My Birthday today, May 13th! I'm offically 41 years old! Yippee!!!

Second, I would like to apologize for not being around as much. I've been so busy! I haven't had time to do any crafts...

I had the best Mother's Day, and I hope you did as well!

The day started with a little breakfast...

I did not eat all of the sausage... Emily had some.

Emily got me a present.

I love presents... Can't help, but I do..

She fooled me by putting two presents in one bag!!

She gave me a very funny card...

Emily gave me the best smelling candle, and a necklace with earrings.

My girl knows me very well. I love candles and jewerly!

I wanted to play putt putt, so that is what we did next...

We all made 2 hole in ones! Aren't we good?

It was a very close game...

Steve beat me by 2.... Emily wasn't far behind!!! Oh, how I wanted to kick their butts.... Maybe next time... (I'm not competitive at all...can't you hear the sarcasm here?)

~Coffee table and end tables~

Today I would like to show you my coffee table and end tables that my husband (Steve) made.

I do not have before pictures of Steve making the coffee table or end tables, sorry. Steve just doesn't get the whole blogging thing... You take a bunch of pictures before during and after...

The wood is solid walnut with maple inlays!

Here's the legs...

After he finished, he put glossy polyurethane on it.

Here's a view of an end table. Steve even made the inside of the drawers out of the walnut wood.

So what do think of our new coffee table and end tables???

Didn't he do a great job? I think he did!!!

One Bad Blogger!

I know I've been a bad blogger as of late, but I really do have a good excuse!

Back in September, I found a water stain on my kitchen ceiling (oh no)! My bathroom happens to be above my kitchen, so you know that was not a good sign! Needless to say, the drain under the cast iron tub was busted, so we had to ripe out the entire bathroom down to the studs! You can go HERE, HERE and HERE to see the nightmare! This project was not planned or in our budget. Yes, we are still working on this ~~great~~ pain in my you know what bathroom, and getting really close to finishing it up. My hubby and I both work full time, and it's really hard during the week to find time to work in the bathroom. This weekend we really pushed ourshelves and made big progress! I pulled a muscle in my neck and back trying to get this room done! Let me just say, I'm tired of bathroom, I'm tired of my house being dirty, and I'm just plain tired!!!!!!

Here is my new shower! It's not finished, but at least you can see we will have two shower heads!

The walls are painted. The crown molding is put up.

We still need to install the sink, faucets, toilet, and shower doors! Those are expensive items, so another few more weeks!

I guess what I'm saying is that I'm trying to finish my bathroom, so I will not be around a lot. Other projects that I've been working on are now on hold... I will still have my Get Your Craft on Thursday party, and hope y'all join me! I hope to be back soon!

Remember this???? What WAS the Big Mystery!!!

I'm doing the happy dance..... Can't you just see me??? I'm so happy I'm jumping for joy.... Are you wondering why I'm doing the happy dance??? Well, come take a look... But first, do y'all know Ana from Knock Off Wood? If you don't then you don't know what you're missing. You have to visit her blog. She's incredible....I've been looking for a console (couch) table for a while, but I could never find one I liked. Well, I found some I liked, but I didn't like the price. I went over to Ana's and found a couch table I loved. I decided to make one. Yep, I made one (by myself)! I made candle sticks, so why not make a couch table, right?

This post has lots of photos!!!

Now let's take a look at what I made, shall we??

This is from Ana's blog! I started with this photo and printed the instructions!

I went and bought all the wood and nails.

Then I went to work and followed Ana's instructions step by step! Very easy!

Here are the legs...

Base of the table. Boy, is our shop messy. Time to clean it up.

Putting the top on!

Here she is finished.... Well almost.. Still have work to do, but I'm one happy camper!!!

(silly photo, but keeping it real. Now think Pointer Sisters and sing with me) I'm so excited...and I just can't hide it...I'm about to lose control and I think I like it...Oh yeah!

Now that you've stopped laughing at the photo above here's another view of just the table.

I'm sanding! Lots and lots of sanding....

I primed it and then painted.

I used a brown satin finish.

See my candle sticks? Very pretty as well..

I didn't want to put a runner on it. I will later!

It only took me about 4 hours to make, and it cost about $40.00. The finising is what took me the longest!!! I hope you like my couch table. I know I sure do, and I made it without the help of my hubby, A.K.A. "The Drill Sargent" (O.K. he did tell me about safety, safety, safety, and sand, sand, sand, and then sand some more)!!!

What should I build next? Maybe a house??? Yea right!!!
